Over 250 horse race enthusiasts packed BMW Athlone Showroom for a night that
was not to be missed.

Colm Quinn BMW was alight on Friday 9th March with car lovers, horse racing fans and the
epitome of who’s who in racing circles all in attendance. This Cheltenham Preview Event saw
RTE GAA pundit and racing enthusiast Michael Duignan keep the panel of experts at a steady
pace through a bumper race listing for Cheltenham 2018.
World renowned trainers Gordon Elliott and Noel Meade offered practical and passionate
insights in to the week ahead, with jockeys Kate Harrington, Andrew Lynch and Donagh
Meyler offering views from a different perspective. Eddie O’Leary, racing manager to
Gigginstown Stud and Racing Post’s David Jennings shared impassioned opinions and jovial
commentary, pushing the boundaries of all involved.
Now in its third year, the Colm Quinn BMW Cheltenham Preview Event is gaining momentum
year on year. With support from key partners at Wineport Lodge, O’Briens Wine and more,
this free event donated all funds raised to The Irish Injured Jockeys.
Speaking on the success of this event, Colm Quinn said, “We are delighted to welcome
everyone to our Showrooms here in Athlone and to see the interest in our event growing at
such pace year on year. We are thrilled also that people dug deep raising almost €6,000 in aid
of  Irish Injured Jockeys , helped in no small way by our auction of an exceptional
painting of 2016 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Don Cossack.” Fundraising was from an
accumulation of donations, raffle tickets and the auction of renowned equine artist Marion
Tubiana’s painting of Don Cossack which was kindly donated by David O’Shea of the Chimere
Gallery, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.

Celebrating 10 years in business this year, Colm Quinn BMW and MINI located in Athlone and
