Tickets Now On Sale For J.T. McNamara Memorial Event

The Irish Injured Jockey Fund are joining forces with the g Hotel & Spa to raise much needed funds to help Irish jockeys and their families. The event is being held in memory of renowned jockey John Thomas McNamara who sadly passed away during last year’s Galway Race Week. JT McNamara was acclaimed as one of the leading Irish amateur jockeys of our generation. A Limerick man who rode all the way to the top of his sport, John had 600 plus point to point wins and numerous track winners many of which were for JP McManus. He was just 41 when he passed away last year, three years after being left paralysed from a horrific fall in 2013. JT’s courage following his accident and that of his family was an inspiration to many both within and outside racing. He is survived by his wife Caroline and children, Dylan, Harry and Olivia.

The Irish Injured Jockey Fund was set up in 2014 following JT Namara’s accident, by jockeys to help jockeys and their families in such circumstances. Its mission is to increase awareness and raise vital funds to support injured Irish jockeys and their families. Funds raised through Irish Injured Jockeys go to the injured riders who are in most need of support. The Board and management of the Irish Injured Jockeys are an innovative driving force in drawing public attention to the need for enhanced care, rehabilitation and welfare of jockeys, past and present.
